Snowing, Sliding, & Sleeping In

Last Monday, we had our first snow day in 8 years. The Winslow girls spent the day building snowmen, having snowball fights, and snowboarding down the field. Some girls even went out at night to “penguin slide”, in which they wore a garbage bag over their clothes and slid down the snowy slope. After a long day of playing in the snow, the girls slowly got ready for school the next day, when administration informed us that school was going to be closed for another snow day! The girls were delighted to hear the news and they spent the rest of the night watching the Netflix original, Bird Box, in Adrienne and Diana’s room.

On Tuesday morning, a group of Winslow girls walked to McRae’s in the aftermath of the snowstorm for brunch. The roads were filled with slippery ice and mushy snow, but the filling brunch and good company made it worthwhile.

After two days of snow, sliding, and sleeping in, school finally opened again. With the musical performance right around the corner, hectic rehearsals resumed, and the pace of teaching had to be sped up due to missing so many blocks of class.

On Wednesday night, we had our annual Valentine’s Day dinner with Barnacle house at a restaurant downtown called Milestones. It was a fancy dinner, everyone’s stomachs full and satisfied after eating. Beforehand, both houses exchanged gifts, people receiving presents from chocolate to mugs to stuffed animals.
