Wicked Winslow Witches of the West

It has been an exciting week here at SMUS. Last Wednesday was Halloween, and the annual costume parade was held in the single gym. The girls put together amazing costumes, like Caroline’s terrifying zombie makeover, and Sam’s insane anime-inspired cosplay outfit, just to name a few. After the parade, school resumed as usual, and in the evening, Arts Council held its first ever SMUS Live. There were a variety of performances, from singing to dancing to poetry reading, and Michelle and Caterina had an awesome debut at the event! After the live show, we had fireworks on the field, and to finish off the night, there was trick or treating within the boarding houses. The houses were open to everyone with the community, and the Grade 12s helped give out the candy. The girls had a lot of fun wandering around and exploring the other houses, and they collected tons of candy and chocolate!

During the weekend, the Rowing Team had their City Championships at Elk Lake. They had outstanding performance, placing first in all divisions. Good job to Adrienne, Julia, and Bella K! The Senior Girls Volleyball Team also readied themselves for City playoff action, playing well in their own ISA’s at Crofton House. Congratulations to Kath and Emma!

On Sunday, several Winslow girls participated in Boarders without Borders, which is an activity that all boarding students can sign up for, to go at a day student’s house for dinner. The girls really enjoyed the experience, as it was a nice reminiscence of the feeling of home.

As we approach the end of October, the weather is becoming colder and rainier, and stress from school and extracurricular activities may become increasingly overwhelming. But fortunately for us, the Winslow girls are always there for each other, and we don’t let anyone rain on our parade. Keep it up girls, the long weekend is just around the corner!
