(House) Dinner Time!
Last Thursday, the Winslow girls had their first house dinner of the year, together with the boys from their brother house, Barnacle. The house dinner was held at The Mint, a subterranean eatery that served creative Himalayan-West Coast food, such as chicken masala curry with rice and alfredo pasta. The Grade 12’s helped organize various games to fill the vacant restaurant with laughter and joy, and the night went by blissfully. Before anyone knew, it was time to return to the boarding house for prep time.
The Senior Girls Field Hockey Team participated in the Islands Tournament last weekend. They competed against many high schools, namely Lambrick, Brentwood, GNS, and Shawnigan, and came in second place, securing a spot in the provincials. Jessie, our fellow Winslow sister, was amazing, as usual, as their goalie, blocking off several good strikes from the opposing teams.
A few Winslow girls participated in the Founder’s Dinner, where they had the opportunity to meet their sponsors, and talk about their school experience so far. They all agreed that the best part of the event was the food, no doubt!
Grade 9’s participated in the annual pumpkin carving activity last Friday, where they competed to see who carved the best pumpkin. A few grade 12 Winslow girls helped at the activity to ensure that the Grade 9 kids handled the knives carefully and didn’t stab each other in the back (literally!). Some of the completed pumpkins were placed outside Winslow House, and the Winslow girls and Barnacle boys helped decorate the foyer with skeletons, spider webs, and scarecrows, making it spooky and fun! We were most definitely ready for Halloween!
