Celebrating Community and Connection

This week was a busy week, many things were going on for the winslow girls.

House Dinner:

On Thursday, we went to Frankie's Modern Diner on Government Street downtown for our last house dinner of the year. The food was really good especially the desert, all the girls loved it. Also, little Cora and Poppy joined us for dinner, which made the dinner even better as they drown us in their cuteness.

Culture Extravaganza:

On Saturday, SMUS hosted our annual Culture Extravaganza. Many girls helped out during the event: Jasmine and Michelle M organized the hair braiding stand, Narjes did the henna painting, Maki and Charlotte volunteered at the dunk tank, Emma and Himmena helped out at the bouncy castle, and Jessie, Samina, Samantha, Fernanda F, Angela, and Lisa helped out at the cultural food tables. Some girls performed during the event as well. The girls who weren’t involved with the organization of the event also enjoyed the Extravaganza as they enhance their learning of different cultures and also had lots of fun.

Teddy Bear Tossing:

As a tradition in SMUS, every year, the grads toss teddy bears in the quad after the alumni chapel. Every year, in the alumni chapel, an alum is invited to make a speech. After the chapel, the grads proceed towards the crothall quad to receive their grad teddy bears. The photographer then takes a photo from the second floor while the grads toss their bears. The Winslow grade 12s also took many pictures as a group.
